Uganda’s Joshua “The Spyder” Nyanzi Set for IBF & IBO Super Welter Clash Against Germany’s Ahmad Ali

Ugandan boxer Joshua Nyanzi, popularly known as “The Spyder”, is set to return to the international stage with a blockbuster bout in Germany. Under Spyder Boxnation Promotion, Nyanzi will lock horns with German contender Ahmad Ali at the Rattenfänger Halle, Hameln on Saturday, September 13, 2025.

The highly anticipated fight will be contested over 10 rounds and carries both the IBF European Super Welterweight Title and the IBO International Super Welterweight Title, adding significant stakes to the clash.

Joshua “The Spyder” Nyanzi: Uganda’s Hope Abroad

Nyanzi, currently ranked 4th in Uganda (out of 25) and 337th worldwide (out of 2,603), brings with him a record of 15 professional fights12 wins (6 by KO) and 3 losses. His most recent outing was an impressive 5th-round TKO victory over Ibrahim Kitaka, proving his sharpness ahead of this international assignment.

This will be Nyanzi’s second fight in Germany, his first being against Piergiulio Ruhe at Friedrich-Ebert-Halle, Ludwigshafen, on May 4, 2024, where he lost by unanimous decision. Despite that setback, he has previously demonstrated his capability at super welterweight, including a victory over Keron Jamal Joseph in Dubai.

🇩🇪 Ahmad Ali: The German Challenge

Standing in his way is Germany’s Ahmad Ali, a seasoned fighter with 22 bouts under his belt — 20 wins (13 KOs) and just 1 loss, which came against Felice Moncelli by TKO. Ali is currently ranked 10th in Germany (out of 59) and 228th worldwide (out of 1,991).

Though Ali is naturally a middleweight, most of his career has been fought in the super welter division. He recently returned to middleweight with a 2nd-round TKO win over Mario Obenauer, but has recorded four prior bouts in super welter, including his only career defeat against Moncelli.

A Clash of Natural Weight Classes

The fight is intriguing given that both boxers are stepping outside their natural weight divisions.

  • Nyanzi is a natural welterweight, though he has tested himself successfully at super welter.
  • Ali is a natural middleweight, forced to cut down but with experience at this level.

This weight factor could make the contest unpredictable, with both fighters needing to adapt their styles.

 The Stakes

With two prestigious titles on the line, this bout offers Nyanzi a golden chance to elevate his international standing. A victory in Germany would not only avenge his past loss on German soil but also open doors to higher continental and global rankings.

For Ali, the fight represents an opportunity to reclaim dominance in the super welter division after recent ventures into middleweight.
