Uganda’s Bombers Locked and Loaded: Full Team Confirmed for Dubai World Championships

Uganda’s presence at the upcoming 2025 IBA Men’s Elite World Championships has now taken full shape, following the confirmed arrival of the complete national delegation in Dubai ahead of the historic tournament scheduled for December 2–13 at the Dubai Tennis Stadium.

The final confirmation comes after the latest addition — Mulindwa Fahad, popularly known as “Kingkong” — joined the team. A lightweight professional boxer based in Dubai, Mulindwa’s inclusion officially completes what many boxing analysts are calling Uganda’s strongest international representation in years.

The full Ugandan lineup now features:

  • Farahat Manirola (1st ranked Ugandan pro) – 15 fights | 12 wins (9 KOs) | 3 losses
  • Bob Turyatemba (unbeaten contender) – 13 fights | 13 wins (7 KOs)
  • Mulindwa Fahad “Kingkong” – Lightweight pro | Based in Dubai
  • Malindi Baker – Competing at 80kg
  • Ziikama Sabbath Mark

The team will be led by respected coach Skills Kalungi, whose technical expertise and international experience are expected to play a pivotal role as the boxers prepare to face the world’s elite.

Building Momentum — Two Stars Arrived Early

Earlier this week, Bob Turyatemba became the first Ugandan boxer to arrive in Dubai, signaling early intent and disciplined preparation. With an unbeaten record and rising global ranking, he remains one of Uganda’s most promising medal hopefuls.

Shortly after, the arrival of Farahat Manirola — Uganda’s top-ranked professional fighter — strengthened the camp’s competitive backbone. His high knockout rate and aggressive ring style have drawn attention from international observers and raised expectations of a strong Ugandan performance.

Fighting for History — and Millions

This year’s IBA World Championships will mark a milestone in global boxing with a record-breaking $8 million prize pool — the largest in amateur boxing history. Each gold medalist will walk away with $300,000, shared between the boxer, their coach, and their national federation.

Beyond medals and financial rewards, the event represents a chance for Uganda to showcase its fast-rising boxing identity on one of the world’s biggest stages.

Eyes on Dubai

With the full squad now assembled, training sessions are set to begin immediately as Team Uganda enters its final preparation phase. The nation’s boxing community remains hopeful, energized and united, believing this group has the potential to deliver Uganda’s best-ever performance at a global championship.

As the countdown continues, all eyes are on Dubai — and on Uganda’s fearless team ready to make history.
