Uganda Strengthens Its Presence in Dubai as Farahat Manirola Joins Turyatemba Ahead of Historic 2025 IBA World Championships

Uganda’s boxing delegation in Dubai has grown stronger with the arrival of Farahat Manirola, who becomes the second Ugandan boxer to check in for the upcoming 2025 IBA Men’s Elite World Championships, joining fellow national standout Bob Turyatemba.

Manirola, one of the country’s most experienced and battle-tested professionals, poses as another major hope for Uganda in what is set to be the richest World Championships in IBA history, with a monumental $8 million prize pool.

Manirola: Uganda’s Top-Ranked Professional

Farahat Manirola enters the championships with a solid professional résumé:

  • 15 professional bouts
  • 12 wins (9 by knockout)
  • 3 losses
  • Ranked 1st out of 17 in Uganda
  • Ranked 127th out of 2,740 worldwide

His explosive knockout rate and tactical aggression have made him one of the most feared competitors in his weight category. Uganda’s boxing fraternity is optimistic that Manirola’s presence will boost the country’s chances of securing a podium finish.

Joining Forces With Uganda’s Unbeaten Star

Manirola’s arrival comes shortly after Bob Turyatemba, who was the first Ugandan boxer to land in Dubai, accompanied by coach Skills Kalungi. Turyatemba, unbeaten at 13–0 (7 KOs), is currently ranked 3rd in Uganda and 134th worldwide, making him another key medal contender.

Together, the two form a powerful Ugandan frontline as the nation prepares to challenge the world’s best at the Dubai Tennis Stadium from December 2 to 13.

High Stakes and Historic Rewards

The IBA World Championships will award $300,000 to each gold medalist, with prize money shared among the boxer, coach, and national federation. Both Ugandan fighters stand to gain not only personal glory but also significant support for Uganda’s boxing development.

As the countdown to the tournament continues, Uganda’s hopes rest firmly on the shoulders of Turyatemba and Manirola, two elite professionals ready to represent their country on boxing’s grandest amateur stage.
