UBF Novices 2025: Lukanga Dominates, Zebra Proves Strong Contender

The Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) Novices Championships 2025 have concluded with Lukanga Boxing Club emerging as the overall winners after a dominant campaign across all categories.

Lukanga amassed an impressive 112 points, driven by strong performances in the junior (40), youth (34), and elite (38) divisions. Their consistency across all ranks placed them well ahead of their closest rivals, Zebra Boxing Club, who finished second with 76 points.

In third place was COBAP Boxing Club, who accumulated 36 points, largely buoyed by a stellar youth category showing where they scored 27 points. Other notable performers included Kololo BC (33 points) and Boggie Boxing Club who tied with Brawn Boxing Club at 26 points each.

The elite category proved decisive, with clubs like UPDF and Fort Portal BC excelling, but Lukanga’s balance across divisions sealed their championship victory.

UBF officials praised the competitiveness of this year’s event, highlighting the growth of grassroots boxing and the rise of new clubs from across the country.

“The 2025 Novices have showcased Uganda’s depth of talent. Clubs from Kampala to Fort Portal and beyond have shown that the future of Ugandan boxing is bright,” a UBF spokesperson noted.

The Novices Championship remains a critical platform for identifying and nurturing emerging talent, feeding into the national boxing structure and preparing young fighters for regional and international competitions.

With Lukanga setting the benchmark this year, all eyes will be on Zebra and other clubs to mount an even stronger challenge in the tournaments ahead.
