Fast-rising Ugandan boxing star Henry Oteba is set to return to the ring under the management of Subena Promotion in what promises to be one of his toughest tests yet. Scheduled for July 11, 2025, at Club Obligato, the event titled “Gloves and Glory” is being organized by Ziso Promotions and will see Oteba take on seasoned contender Rogers Kamulegeya in a much-anticipated light-welterweight clash.
At just 19 years old, Oteba has made a bold impression on Uganda’s professional boxing scene. With a record of 7 wins (5 by knockout) and 1 loss, the orthodox fighter is known for his aggressive style and knockout power, boasting an impressive 71.43% KO rate.
Speaking ahead of the fight, Subena Promotion CEO and Oteba’s manager, Benedict Ssuuna, expressed strong confidence in his boxer’s readiness.
“Oteba is highly motivated, focused, and courageous. This is a big fight, no doubt, but fans should expect fireworks. We’re confident he’ll deliver,” Ssuuna stated.
Kamulegeya, known for his experience and toughness in the ring, presents a significant challenge for Oteba, who recently suffered his first professional loss abroad in a competitive 8-round bout in Lagos, Nigeria. However, his camp is treating this bout as a proving ground and a launchpad for bigger opportunities beyond Ugandan borders.
Coach Kalungi Skills, who has been overseeing Oteba’s preparations, emphasized that the boxer is in peak condition to perform.
“We’ve had a solid training camp. Oteba is sharp, disciplined, and ready. He’s going to give the fans exactly what they’re hoping for – a top-tier performance.”
Adding his voice with trademark confidence, Oteba himself was clear and concise:
“I don’t talk much. I let my actions speak in the ring. Expect action.”
Subena Promotion has also revealed that plans are underway for Oteba to secure another fight outside Uganda following this matchup—an indication of his fast-rising profile and regional ambitions.
With anticipation building, “Gloves and Glory” is shaping up to be a night of high drama and elite boxing, and Henry Oteba is stepping in not just to win—but to solidify his place as a future star of Ugandan boxing.
