Uganda’s rising amateur boxing star, Nanyonjo Allen Hope Sseruyange, popularly known as Nahs12 “Smiling Girl the Youth,” has achieved yet another milestone in her fast-growing journey. The 12-year-old sensation has been awarded a full bursary for her secondary education (Senior 1 to Senior 4) by Little Dolphins International School, one of Uganda’s most prestigious institutions, in recognition of her outstanding talent and influence in boxing.
Allen, the daughter of Ugandan super featherweight boxer Connrad “KingKong” Sseruyange, has already built a reputation as one of the most promising faces of Uganda’s amateur ranks. A student at Lamp Stand Academy Masajja, where she currently serves as Sports Prefect, Allen previously earned her place at the school through a sports bursary for her exceptional achievements in the ring.
Her latest bursary was confirmed by Madam Mulungi Daphine, Director of Little Dolphins International School, who emphasized the school’s commitment to nurturing young talent:
“We are proud to support Allen’s education because she represents the values of discipline, passion, and excellence. Her story is proof that sports can open doors to opportunities far beyond the ring. By sponsoring her education, we want to ensure that she balances academics with her talent as she continues to inspire other young people.”
The announcement follows Allen’s recent appearance as Chief Guest of Honour at Little Dolphins’ annual Parents–Sports Day in Entebbe–Kitende, where she left a lasting impression on students, teachers, and parents alike. Her growing influence has also inspired the school to launch a boxing program, with Allen set to play a role in guiding and motivating her peers.
For Allen, the bursary is more than just financial support — it is recognition of her efforts and proof that her dreams are taking shape:
“I am so happy and thankful for this bursary. It gives me more strength to keep working hard in school and in boxing. I also encourage other young children to stay focused, because talent can change your life.”
Her father and coach, Connrad Sseruyange, described the milestone as a blessing for their family and a victory for Uganda’s sporting community:
“This shows that hard work pays off. As her coach, I see how much effort Allen puts into training and school. As her father, I am proud to see her talent opening such doors. It’s a big motivation for all young boxers in Uganda.”
Allen’s rise — from defeating Namuli Peace in the Uganda Boxing Champions League Season 04 to becoming a role model for young athletes — is a story of discipline and inspiration. With her secondary school education now secured, the “Smiling Girl of Youth” continues to prove that Uganda’s future in boxing is not only about winning medals but also about creating opportunities that can transform lives
