In a major development for Ugandan boxing, a leaked official letter from the Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) has confirmed the sanctioning of the much-anticipated WBU Super Bantamweight World Title bout between Uganda’s own Frank “Black Fire” Kiwalabye and Tanzania’s Karim Kisairo. The high-profile fight is now officially set for July 11, 2025, at Club Obligato in Kampala.
The UBF, which serves as the governing body for both amateur and professional boxing in Uganda, had remained tight-lipped about the sanctioning — until now. The leaked correspondence, circulating among insiders and fans, confirms that all systems are go for what is expected to be one of the biggest boxing nights of the year.
Kiwalabye, a former ABU Africa Bantamweight Champion, is making a highly anticipated return to the ring with a stellar record of 18 wins (14 KOs) in 20 fights. His comeback for the WBU belt has been met with excitement and speculation, especially after his bold statement at the press conference:
“A star only comes out when it's their time. This belt adds a lot to me and helps me promote my country.”
The event is further bolstered by a star-studded undercard, featuring top Ugandan talents such as Bob Turyatemba, Henry Oteba, Emmanuel Muwanguzi, Farahati Manirola, Sowali Sentongo, and Musuza Hassan — all ready to ignite the night with high-octane performances.
Kisairo, a 27-year-old tactician from Temboni, Tanzania, brings experience and endurance to the ring, but “Black Fire” remains confident:
“The opponent is good, but I am good as well. I’ve been training, waiting for my moment — and now it’s here.”
The leaked UBF letter has cleared any lingering doubts surrounding the event’s legitimacy and reassured boxing fans that this fight is officially sanctioned and happening without fear or delay.
As July 11 approaches, the stage is set, the sanctioning is sealed, and Uganda’s boxing faithful await what could be a historic night at Club Obligato.
