Kampala Fight Night Postponed to September 4th After Sanctioning Dispute

The highly anticipated Kampala Fight Night, originally slated for August 27, 2025 at Supremacy Lounge, has been officially postponed to September 4, 2025, organizers have confirmed.

The event, promoted by Zebra Mando Promotion, had been thrown into doubt last week when letters from the Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) circulated on social media, suggesting the show was not sanctioned. The federation claimed organizers had failed to submit a complete fight card and signed boxer contracts—requirements for official approval.

In response, promoter Isaac Zebra Jr blasted the federation’s approach, describing the public posting of the letter as “sabotage” and “unprofessional.”

“It’s shameful for the federation to post a letter addressed to the promoter on social media before even reaching me. That’s like sabotaging my business, and it’s very unprofessional,” Zebra Jr said.

Amid the confusion, event matchmaker Mutyaba Collin sought to assure fans that the show was still sanctioned and would proceed. However, in a fresh update, Mutyaba has now confirmed that the fight night will indeed be pushed to September 4th.

“The event is pushed to September 4th, same venue, to give us time to properly make the public aware of the fight. The official press conference will take place on August 27th,” Mutyaba explained.

The postponement gives organizers additional time to build hype and ensure smooth delivery of what is expected to be one of Uganda’s biggest boxing nights this year.

With the new date set, fans can look forward to drama inside the ring—not outside of it—on September 4th at Supremacy Lounge.

Indeed as the promoter asserted it's very unprofessional and in boxing to circulate the communication between two parties on social media unless the author has sinister plans against the organisers. However as always boxing has been there and it will still be there and it's the winning team no matter the circumstances. I looked at the letter, and guess what I thought the author would be the Professional Licensing Commission but guess what it took the whole head or the federation to write it not even ye Secretary General, this leaves alot to be desired . In a period when UBF is still putting things right before NCS for registration and recognition, some of the issues I guess they raised it was about leadership and their roles which is clearly displayed in the recent letters stopping this event. I guess if things continue in this same vein I guess the federation leadership is faced with alot of challenges legally in the times to come and elections close by it's a high hill to climb. The earliest UBF realises that boxing has many stakeholders except the club's that formed it the better the discipline of boxing will be in future.
