Henry Kasujja Set for Historic U.S. Debut as Ugandan Boxing Eyes Global Breakthrough

Ugandan professional boxer Henry Kigongo Kasujja, popularly known as “Stopper,” is set to make history after confirming his first professional fight in the United States, marking a significant milestone for both his career and the growth of Ugandan boxing on the global stage.

Kasujja will headline Mansion Pro Series 1, scheduled for Saturday, April 4, 2026, in the United States. The welterweight contest is scheduled for six rounds, with the opponent yet to be confirmed and currently listed as TBA on BoxRec. The fight card will feature a total of nine bouts, with the Ugandan star positioned as the main attraction of the evening.

The announcement follows earlier confirmation by promoter Stephen Ssembuya, CEO of 12 Sports Rounds Promotions, that Kasujja and rising prospect Jayden had secured opportunities to advance their careers in America — becoming the first tag team from the same Ugandan boxing camp to break into the U.S. professional boxing scene.

Ssembuya described the moment as the result of years of persistence and belief despite challenges faced along the journey. According to the promoter, qualities such as faith, patience, consistency, and long-term vision have often been missing within Uganda’s boxing ecosystem, slowing the progress of many talented fighters.

Four years ago, 12 Sports Rounds Promotions spearheaded what is widely regarded as the largest transition of fighters from amateur to professional boxing in Uganda’s history. The promotion worked with several notable athletes, helping elevate their profiles locally and internationally. Despite experiencing setbacks as some fighters departed the camp, the promotion continued developing talent, with Kasujja emerging as one of its most disciplined and loyal fighters.

“Kasujja stayed focused and trusted the process,” Ssembuya noted previously. “That discipline is what has opened doors to the international stage.”

Kasujja’s upcoming bout represents more than just a personal achievement. His presence as a headline fighter on an American card signals growing recognition of Ugandan boxing talent within major global markets. The move is expected to expose the fighter to higher-level competition, improved training environments, and increased international visibility.

Potential Impact on Ugandan Boxing

Industry observers believe Kasujja’s U.S. debut could have far-reaching implications:

  • Increasing international attention toward Ugandan fighters and promoters.
  • Creating clearer pathways for local boxers seeking opportunities abroad.
  • Encouraging investment and sponsorship within Uganda’s professional boxing structure.
  • Inspiring young athletes to pursue professional boxing with discipline and long-term planning.

With the opponent yet to be announced, anticipation continues to build around the April showdown. For Kasujja, the fight represents the realization of a long-held dream — competing on American soil, widely considered the ultimate proving ground in professional boxing.

As Uganda watches closely, the bout could mark the beginning of a new chapter, not only for “Stopper” Kasujja but for the country’s ambitions on the global boxing stage.

This is exceptionally great. Henry you must keep focused, stay calm as the world welcomes. Remember the hunters I always told you that usually boasted around before the hunt ended up with nothing.
