Lugogo, June 28, 2025 — Just weeks after etching his name into continental boxing history with a gold medal at the Africa Youth Boxing Championship in Guinea, rising star Joshua Mwenda has delivered another statement victory—this time on home soil.
The light welterweight sensation outclassed Nasasira Moses with a commanding 5:0 unanimous decision (UD) win during Week 5 of the Uganda Boxing Champions League at MTN Arena Lugogo.
Mwenda, still riding high from his gold-medal heroics in Conakry, Guinea, showed no signs of slowing down. From the opening bell, he controlled the pace, landing crisp combinations and smartly evading Nasasira’s counters. His ring IQ, confidence, and clean technique were evident throughout the bout, leaving no doubt in the judges' minds.
“It’s been an amazing few weeks,” said Mwenda post-fight. “Winning for my country at the African Championships was a dream, and to now come home and put on a performance like this—it’s a blessing. I’m just getting started.”
Mwenda, a Senior Five student at Bweyogerere SS and a proud member of Sparks Boxing Club, credited his continued form to the unwavering support of his team and sponsors—Multi Sports Centre and Inspired Brands Promotions—who also backed him during his victorious campaign in Guinea.
His victory at the Africa Youth Boxing Championship, where he stopped both South Africa’s Vumazonke Indiphile and Libya’s Mohammed Kesher via second-round TKOs, established him as a force to watch. And tonight’s clinical performance in the Champions League only solidified that growing reputation.
👑 Rising Star on a Mission
With his perfect blend of discipline, humility, and explosive talent, Mwenda is rapidly becoming one of Uganda’s most exciting young prospects. His journey from schoolboy athlete to national hero is inspiring a new generation of boxers across the country.
🥊 What's Next?
As the Uganda Boxing Champions League continues, all eyes will remain on Mwenda, whose future looks brighter with every bout. Whether in local rings or on continental stages, Joshua Mwenda is proving that dreams do come true—with gloves, grit, and God on your side.
