Kampala, Uganda – In what many fans and pundits are calling a highly controversial decision, rising boxing talent Nerrick Bulabe suffered his second consecutive loss in the Uganda Champions League after a 5:0 unanimous decision defeat to Kanabi Alex. The outcome has stirred heated debate across Uganda’s boxing community, with growing calls for Bulabe to exit the amateur ranks and turn professional.
Despite the wide scorecards, many in attendance—including coaches, journalists, and fans—believe Bulabe was the superior fighter, dominating much of the action with cleaner punches, better movement, and visible ring control.
“This is not just disappointing—it’s a disgrace,” said Chris, Bulabe’s manager. “We’re tired of fake results and biased officiating. Everyone saw Nerrick win that fight convincingly. Enough is enough.”
The result follows another controversial loss for Bulabe in his previous outing, prompting frustration within his camp and raising serious questions about the integrity of judging in domestic amateur bouts. Sources close to the boxer suggest that a move to the professional scene may come sooner than expected.
“We are already in talks,” added Chris. “Some respected companies linked to Nara Promotions, one of East Africa’s leading boxing promotion outfits, have shown strong interest in signing Nerrick. It might be the only way to protect his career and get him the recognition he deserves.”
Bulabe, known for his sharp jab, tactical discipline, and crowd-pleasing style, has long been tipped as a future star. But the recent setbacks—seen by many as political and unjust—have only intensified the urgency to move forward.
As boxing fans continue to debate the legitimacy of the result, one question remains at the center of the storm:
Is it finally time for Nerrick Bulabe to turn professional and escape the shadows of amateur injustice?
Only time will tell. But one thing is certain: Uganda hasn’t heard the last of Nerrick Bulabe.
