Uganda may field one of its strongest boxing squads in recent years at the 2025 IBA Men’s Elite World Championships, set to run from December 2–13 in Dubai, following credible leaks indicating the possible inclusion of top professional fighters Farahat Manirola and Bob Turyatemba.
The Championships, which will headline the IBA’s two-week Festival of Boxing at Dubai’s iconic Tennis Stadium, are expected to draw the world’s best amateur and professional talent as athletes compete for a historic $8 million prize pool—the richest in the sport’s history.
Leaked List Suggests Pro Fighters to Represent Uganda
According to trusted sources within Ugandan boxing circles, super lightweight contender Farahat Manirola, popularly known as “Nightmare,” and undefeated welterweight sensation Bob Turyatemba, are among the standout professionals being considered for the Bombers squad.
Both fighters have built solid reputations in the pro ranks:
- Farahat Manirola is known for his explosive style and fearless ring presence, earning the nickname Nightmare for the problems he poses to opponents.
- Bob Turyatemba, a rapidly rising welterweight prospect, remains unbeaten and has gained national attention for his discipline, composure, and strong ring IQ.
If confirmed, their inclusion would mark a significant shift, showcasing Uganda’s growing intention to blend top professional experience with elite amateur talent on the global stage.
However, the Uganda Boxing Federation (UBF) has not yet officially announced the final squad. A formal statement is expected in the coming weeks as preparations intensify ahead of the December event.
A Historic Tournament With Record Prize Money

Each payout will be split 50% to the boxer, 25% to coaches, and 25% to the National Federation, reinforcing the IBA’s commitment to supporting the entire boxing ecosystem.
IBA President Umar Kremlev emphasized that the tournament is designed not only to reward excellence but to uplift global boxing communities. “This World Championships is not just about records and prize money – it is about giving every boxer, every coach and every National Federation the respect and reward they deserve,” he said.
Uganda’s Rising Ambition on the World Stage
Uganda’s boxing heritage continues to grow, with both amateur and professional talents gaining traction across Africa and beyond. The potential participation of top pros like Manirola and Turyatemba signals a new era of confidence for the nation’s boxing program.
A strong performance in Dubai—combined with the global visibility of the IBA Festival of Boxing—could significantly boost Uganda’s international standing and provide life-changing opportunities for its fighters.
