
The African Boxing Union (ABU) has released its June 2026 continental ratings, and several Ugandan professional boxers have earned recognition across different weight divisions, reaffirming Uganda's growing presence on the African boxing scene.
Leading the Ugandan contingent is heavyweight contender Herbert Matovu, who occupies the fourth position in the heavyweight rankings, while Willy Kyatonge is ranked second in the Bridgerweight division.
In the middleweight category, Uganda boasts three ranked fighters. Shadiri Musa Bwogi is ranked fifth, John Serunjogi sits in tenth place, and Stanley Mugerwa is ranked ninth. Isaac Zebra Jr also appears in the rankings at number thirteen in the super-middleweight division.
At welterweight level, Henry Kigingo Kasujja continues to fly the Ugandan flag high with a fifth-place ranking. Fellow Ugandan Bob Turyatemba is ranked eleventh in the same division.
The super-welterweight division features two Ugandans, with David Ssemujju holding the third position and Muzamiru Kakande ranked fifth.
In the lighter divisions, Farhat Manirola is ranked fourth in the super-lightweight category, while Isaac Ssebuufu occupies the fourteenth position. Uganda also has strong representation in the featherweight rankings where Suleiman Segawa is ranked fourth, Emmanuel Muwanguzi twelfth, and Musuza Hassan fourteenth.
Super-bantamweight boxer Frank Kiwalabye is ranked ninth in Africa, while Joshua Tusingusiru is ranked fourteenth in the same division.
The latest ABU rankings demonstrate Uganda's depth of talent across multiple weight classes, with fighters spread from heavyweight to the lower weight categories. The rankings are based on results recorded up to June 1, 2026, and provide a clear indication of the country's growing competitiveness in professional boxing across the African continent.
